Making Waves: The Galeon 660 Fly

Yachts are the epitome of opulence. They provide the freedom to effortlessly explore unchartered waters, but even more so, they offer an escape from the daily grind. You can leave behind your schedules and stress to embark on a few days of complete tranquility, where your only obligation is to decide when to set sail. It’s these rare moments free from worry or constraint that define true luxury — something Galeon applies to their 660 Fly yacht’s impeccable design, quality, and capabilities. With two MAN V8-1200 diesel engines, it reaches maximum speeds of 33 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots — but there’s more to this yacht than just speed.

“Galeon was founded on craftsmanship,” explained Bob Burke, a Galeon Brand Manager for the premier yacht retailer MarineMax. With over 19,000 square feet of workspace and 900 employees, Galeon’s dedication to their craft is rooted in their meticulous production, most of which is done by hand. After recently taking a trip to their headquarters and facilities in Poland, Burke saw the construction firsthand. “At least half of the factory touches the boat in one way or another,” remarked Burke. With every 660 Fly taking four to five months to complete, each requires unrivaled attention to detail; from the high-quality, custom-built furniture to the flawless, hand-carved embellishments, the hard work of hundreds can be recognized in every facet of this yacht.

Just this year, the European brand launched in the Americas, with MarineMax as the first American retailer to offer the 660 Fly, priced around $3 million, and its exclusive, brand-new layout. Starting with its sleek exterior, two large catwalks on each side curve into the spacious, sunbathing fore deck and an extendable, hydraulic, six-foot teak swim platform at the stern. From the welcoming cockpit, you can ascend to the flybridge, built with a U-shaped couch, wet bar, and stunning 360-degree views. The ship’s salon boasts plush seating, a sliding 50- inch flat screen TV, panoramic windows, and rich walnut wood that wraps around the entire interior. At night, this bright, relaxed space transforms into a glamorous lounge with ambient overhead LED lights and wood detailing that lure passengers to the heart of the ship. Ideal for entertaining, the 660 Fly’s galley includes a cozy dinette and open kitchen, equipped with oak wood floors, stainless steel appliances, a dazzling, illuminated peninsula bar, and an LED starry sky overhead.

Along with chic inlays on every wall and door, lower accommodations include three elegant staterooms with en-suite heads (bathrooms) and ample natural light from side windows. Lastly, this leads us to the 660 Fly’s best room: the owner’s cabin. The room exudes opulence with a walk-in closet, flat screen TV, queen size bed, an LED skylight, and an ornate headboard. “Each piece of wood is cut perfectly, wrapped into the globe, and specially backlit,” explained Burke. The bathroom is also a work of art, with a large rainfall shower and intricate tile work, complementing the walnut finish and Corian counters. “Hundreds—if not thousands—of hours are put into these boats,” said Burke. “And that’s what really makes them like no other.” From its top-of-the-line performance to its magnificent artistry, the 660 Fly is a symbol of Galeon’s dedication to giving their customers a five-star escape at sea.
