The Adamo Group: Celebrating 40 Years of Making a Difference

With over $2 billion in sales and 40 years of experience under his belt, Attilio Adamo is acutely aware of the real estate legacy he is establishing. “I built up a company, a brand, and the brand has goodwill,” he describes. “I want it to be running for a long time; I want my legacy to continue. I put in a lot of sweat and tears…I laid the foundation; now, my daughter is bringing it to the next level.” Indeed, Attilio’s work, alongside his daughter, Victoria, has catapulted The Adamo Group into another stratosphere in the real estate world. But becoming one of America’s top real estate agents wasn’t always in his sights. 

Growing up as a first-generation American in an Italian immigrant family, Attilio was raised in Hudson County by a tight-knit, hard-working family. With his father and uncles in the  construction business together, Attilio remembers, “at  6 a.m., my father would drag my feet out of bed to go to work in construction, but I never complained. I loved it.” While Attilio enjoyed his days on the job site with family, his father “wanted to make sure that I went to college and would not have to work with my hands.” Attilio credits his father as “the real OG” who instilled the importance of work ethics and family values into his son. “My work ethics are definitely deeply rooted from my dad,” Attilio shares. Following an adolescence spent at construction sites, Attilio honored his father’s wishes and pursued the path of higher education. 

After graduating from college, where Attilio “dreamed about marketing,” and backpacking through Europe, he found himself back at home and miserable at the job he rushed into. “My brother suggested we open up a real estate company together,” Attilio recounts. “I had nothing to lose, and said I’ll try it and if I don’t like it, then I’m still young enough to find another career.” Adamo kept his full-time job, went to night school for his real estate license, and began his work as an agent, “40 years ago in June.” But Adamo’s love for marketing never left him, and he muses on the “full circle moment” at this stage of his career. “Now that I’m with Serhant,” he says, “we’re a marketing company that sells real estate[…]I really ended up doing what I wanted to do.”

“We bring a lot to the table,” Adamo asserts. “We have an entire staff on payroll, a Chief Marketing Brand officer, and we also have a full-time videographer, photographer, social media, in addition to our independent agents. With 40 years in the industry backing him, Attilio shares that he “doesn’t see retirement in my future now.” As The Adamo Group has morphed and grown over the years, so has Attilio’s own appreciation and willingness to learn new approaches. “We’re doing a podcast, in-house production, we have grown and elevated our industry,” he explains. “My daughter has elevated our brand in the last three years ; it’s like a rebirth and I’m loving it. Why do I have to retire when I love what I do?”

Luckily for his fellow real estate agents, Attilio derives great joy and satisfaction from sharing all he’s learned over the years. “I love to find talent, teach and inspire them, and make them into a rock star. I’ve turned a lot of agents into rock stars and I’m proud to give that back and show the next generation the way,” Attilio states. From sharing his own experiences through the decades to embracing “every bit of tech that came our way,” Attilio has been able to stay the course in an industry marked by ebbs and flows, bringing others alongside him on his journey to success. 

With the future of The Adamo Group full of promise, Attilio remains rooted and connected to what he loves most about his work as a real estate broker. “Every day is different from the next,” describes Attilio. “Every day, there are different personalities and a lot of wonderful people out there. And we’re there to listen and guide them in the right direction.” Attilio Adamo’s own track record of success stands as a testament to his motto–“the right agent makes all the difference.”
