Design has the extraordinary ability to transform not only the way a space looks, but how people live within it. That philosophy was front and center as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) New Jersey Chapter honored the state’s most talented creatives during the 2026 Design Excellence Awards, recognizing projects that redefine innovation, craftsmanship, and purposeful design.
Held at the elegant Maplewood Country Club, the annual gala welcomed more than 160 interior designers, architects, industry partners, sponsors, and design enthusiasts for an evening celebrating the very best in residential and commercial interiors. Emmy Award-winning television host George Oliphant of George to the Rescue served as emcee, bringing both humor and heartfelt appreciation for the creativity and dedication that define the profession.
Celebrating Excellence in Interior Design
This year’s competition showcased an impressive range of projects—from luxurious private residences and thoughtfully designed outdoor living spaces to innovative retail environments, hospitality destinations, and commercial interiors. In total, 33 awards were presented across 19 categories, recognizing fourteen interior designers, one industry partner, and four emerging student designers whose work exemplifies the highest standards of design excellence.
“The winning projects demonstrated purpose, integrity and creativity, underscoring how exceptional design has the power to transform spaces,” said Susan Farcy, ASID Associate and President of the ASID New Jersey Chapter, whose own English-inspired show house retreat earned Gold in the Residential Show House Space category.
Standout Winners Across New Jersey
Among the evening’s most celebrated designers were:
- Susan Farcy Interior Design (Wyckoff), earning Gold for Residential Show House Space.
- Sarah Storms of Styled by Storms (Maplewood), receiving Gold for Outdoor Living Spaces.
- Anna Maria Mannarino of Mannarino Designs (Holmdel), recognized with Gold in the Industry Partner category alongside Creative Touch Rugs.
- Liz Curry Studio (South Orange), honored for transforming an optical boutique into an immersive hospitality-inspired retail experience.
- Jennifer Pacca Interiors, Diane Durocher Interiors, Sheila Rich Interiors, Rachel Nowikas of RS Design Management, Beth Insabella Walsh of INSABELLADESIGN, and many others whose projects highlighted the remarkable depth of design talent throughout New Jersey.
The competition also celebrated the future of the industry, with students from Kean University receiving awards for innovative residential, commercial, and public space concepts, reinforcing ASID’s ongoing commitment to cultivating the next generation of design leaders.
More Than Beautiful Spaces
Beyond honoring exceptional interiors, the evening reflected ASID’s commitment to community impact. Guests were encouraged to support The Warehouse NJ, a nonprofit organization that helps individuals and families establish new beginnings by providing household furnishings and essential home goods. The charitable initiative served as a reminder that thoughtful design extends beyond aesthetics—it has the power to improve lives and strengthen communities.
